The legend of the Native American dreamcatcher varies from tribe to tribe, but the basic intention was to hang a dreamcatcher near a bed so it can catch dreams. Good dreams pass through the web and down the feathers to the sleeper, while bad dreams would become lost in the web and were caught until the early morning light when they would perish.
Each part of a dreamcatcher has a special significance. The circle represents the circle of life. The web represents the various roads we all travel during our lifetime. And the feathers represent breath or air, which is needed for survival.
The dreamcatcher is leather bound and has crystal chips amongst the web as well as featuring bone, silver coloured beads and colourful feathers. The dreamcatcher measures a total length of approximately 40cm from the top of the circle to the bottom of the longest feather. The dreamcatcher measures approximately 12cm in diameter from outer edge to outer edge.
This dreamcatcher is a Lone Wolf Trading Company product which is handcrafted and of the finest quality with true reference to American Indian tradition, design and belief structure.
